Allen Chunhui Xing

Allen’s teaching experience is extensive. From 2015 to 2018, he was a Teaching Assistant and Instructor at the University of Maryland, teaching courses such as World Dance Form—Chinese Dance, Fundamental Ballet, and Modern Dance, receiving exemplary reviews from both faculty and students. In 2018, he established XDT Education, developing curricula for technique and performance classes for students of all ages, with over 100 students enrolled. He also established a free online community program to introduce dance to the general public, attracting 60–80 attendees per class.

Throughout his career, Allen has garnered numerous awards and scholarships, including the Baker Artist Award in Performing Arts (2021, 2022), the Singapore International Dance Festival Choreography Gold Award (2021), and the Maryland State Independent Artist First Place Award by the Maryland State Arts Council (2020). He has also served as a jury member for various dance festivals and competitions, such as the Washington International Dance Festival Choreography Award Competition (2023) and the SAI International Dance Festival Competition in Tokyo, Japan (2022–2024). His original works, including “Shape in Water,” “Duplicity,” and “Sunflower,” have been performed at prestigious venues and festivals worldwide, reflecting his innovative approach to dance and choreography.

Allen’s professional journey began with the Huajin Dance Drama Ensemble (2007–2011), where he performed in over 500 stage shows throughout China and internationally, also contributing as a writer and host. He later served as a Dance Faculty member at the Shanxi Academy of Arts (2010–2014), teaching Dance Performance and Repertory classes in a program with over 700 students. His diverse experiences and dedication to the arts have established him as a prominent figure in the dance community, continually contributing to the enrichment and dissemination of dance education and performance.
