BIOGRAPHY
Bruce Bennett is a renowned photographer based in Long Island, New York, specializing in ice hockey imagery. Over a distinguished career spanning more than 44 years, he has become a pivotal figure in documenting the visual history of hockey. Bennett’s journey began in 1974 when he started photographing games at Madison Square Garden and Nassau Coliseum. His work quickly gained recognition, with images appearing in The Hockey News that same year. Since then, he has covered over 4,800 NHL exhibition and regular-season games across more than 53 arenas. His extensive portfolio includes over 30,000 photographs published in major newspapers and magazines worldwide, as well as on licensed products like trading cards and posters.
In 1976, Bennett photographed his first Stanley Cup Final in Philadelphia, where the Montreal Canadiens triumphed over the Philadelphia Flyers. This event marked the beginning of his extensive coverage of high-profile hockey events. To date, he has documented 38 Stanley Cup deciding games, 30 All-Star games, four Olympic Games, and over 150 international hockey matches. His expertise and reputation in the field have led to roles as the team photographer for the New York Islanders, New Jersey Devils, Philadelphia Flyers, and New York Rangers.
