BIOGRAPHY

Mohamed Derdour is a dynamic entrepreneur and the founder and CEO of EntomoNutris, a company dedicated to developing sustainable protein and fertilizer sources through insect breeding. His entrepreneurial journey reflects a commitment to innovation, sustainability, and social responsibility.

In 2021, Mohamed established EntomoNutris with the vision of creating circular production systems that utilize insects as a new source of protein and feed, particularly for animal feed and aquaculture. Under his leadership, the company has grown from a concept to a successful business within two years, offering products such as NatFertil, NatFeed, and ready-to-use Black Soldier Fly (BSF) for various industries. He has been instrumental in all aspects of business development, including market research, sales, finance, operations, and marketing, ensuring the company’s vision is realized. Mohamed has also assembled a team of 13 highly skilled scientists, engineers, and managers, fostering a collaborative environment that drives innovation.

Prior to founding EntomoNutris, Mohamed gained valuable experience in the pharmaceutical and banking sectors. From May 2016 to 2021, he served as a Medical Representative at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) in Morocco, where he was responsible for promoting products, developing business in his area, and collaborating with the marketing team to create strategic plans. His efforts led to significant sales growth, with annual index evolutions of 107% in 2020, 103% in 2019, and 112% in 2018. Before GSK, he worked as a Medical Sales Representative at Medipro Pharma and Gynebio Pharma, and as a Bank Account Manager at Société Générale Marocaine des Banques.

Mohamed’s educational background includes a Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Business Creation from HEC Montreal, a Certificate in Business Management from the same institution, and a European Master’s degree in Management and Business Strategy from FEDE – Federation for Education in Europe. He also holds a Diploma in Sales and Business Development from the School of Management and Computer Science. These qualifications have equipped him with a solid foundation in business principles, strategic planning, and management.

Throughout his career, Mohamed has been recognized with several awards for his innovative and sustainable business practices. Notably, he received the Innovative Investor of the Year 2022 award from the Ministry of Interior of Morocco, was named the Best Innovative & Sustainable Startup representing Morocco in the Netherlands, and was honored as the Best Innovative Startup in Morocco at the Moroccan Entrepreneurship Forum 2022. Additionally, he was recognized as the Startup of the Year at SmartCity Casablanca Morocco 2022 and received the Excellence Entrepreneurial award from Réseaux Entreprendre in 2022. His dedication to entrepreneurship and innovation was further acknowledged with the Impact Prize at IDEOS HEC Montreal in 2023 and the Entrepreneurship Prize at HEC Montreal in 2023.

Beyond his professional achievements, Mohamed is actively involved in community initiatives. He serves as a volunteer panel speaker, social entrepreneur, and motivator, sharing his experiences and insights to inspire others. He also mentors aspiring entrepreneurs through LaStartupStation, providing guidance and support to help them navigate the challenges of starting and growing a business.
