Dharna Noor

Prior to her tenure at The Boston Globe, Noor was a Staff Writer for Gizmodo’s Earther from 2019 to 2021. During this period, she produced between six and twelve articles weekly, focusing on climate change, environmental justice, and conservation. Her work adeptly balanced news reporting, analysis, and feature storytelling, garnering up to one million views. She also co-produced and co-hosted a series of the podcast “Drilled,” which examined the fossil fuel industry’s influence on education. Additionally, she scripted, produced, and hosted videos, and contributed to panels, podcasts, and radio programs, including NPR’s “Living on Earth” and Vox’s “Tell Me More.”

Noor’s earlier experience includes a significant tenure at The Real News Network from 2014 to 2019, where she advanced from Producer to Senior Climate Reporter & Editor. In these roles, she wrote, produced, and hosted video and print reports, interviews, and livestreamed events addressing local, national, and global climate and environmental justice issues. As the leader of the three-person Climate Crisis Bureau, she assigned and edited content, shaping the organization’s coverage. She also led planning for town halls and events, demonstrating her capacity for leadership and community engagement.

Beyond her reporting roles, Noor has contributed to climate literature. In April 2021, she wrote an essay featured in the anthology “The World We Need,” published by The New Press, discussing the collaboration between unions and Black-led community groups in Maryland advocating for offshore wind. She also authored the foreword for “Future on Fire: Capitalism and the Politics of Climate Change,” written by sociologist David Camfield and published by PM Press in October 2022.

Throughout her career, Noor has been recognized for her contributions to climate journalism. In January 2022, she was selected to serve as a member of Covering Climate Now’s Covering Climate Council. She received a 2021 SEAL (Sustainability, Environmental Achievement & Leadership) Award for her impactful reporting. Additionally, she has been a board member of the Baltimore Beat, an alt-weekly based in Baltimore, since its relaunch in 2022. Her dedication to environmental issues and her multifaceted approach to journalism have established her as a prominent voice in climate reporting.
