Ed Sappin

Before establishing SGS, Ed held the position of Director of Project Development for BP’s renewable energy division, BP Solar, from 2009 to 2011. In this capacity, he led teams across the United States and the Asia Pacific, successfully managing power project developments exceeding $2 billion. Prior to his tenure at BP, Ed was based in China as a senior executive at New Asia Partners, where he originated private equity investments and partnered with middle-market companies. His earlier career includes a role as a Senior Strategic Planner at Intel Corporation from 2005 to 2006, as well as positions in venture capital and private equity in New York and London.

Ed’s academic credentials are equally impressive. He earned a Master of Arts in International Relations from The Johns Hopkins University’s Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, where he was recognized as a Boren and Bradley Fellow. His undergraduate studies were completed at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Economics and was honored as a Franklin, Wharton, and Fine Scholar.
