Jade Martinez

In addition to her internship experience, Jade has been actively involved in leadership and mentorship roles at TAMU-CC. As an Intramural Supervisor for the university’s Recreational Sports Department, she has demonstrated her ability to lead and manage teams effectively. Jade is responsible for overseeing the safety of participants and officials during intramural sports events, managing operations, and ensuring that all activities run smoothly. Her role also includes the recruitment, training, and evaluation of officials and scorekeepers, showcasing her organizational and communication skills. Jade’s work in this capacity also includes conflict management, where she ensures that policies are enforced while maintaining a positive and sportsmanlike environment.

Jade’s involvement at TAMU-CC extends beyond sports. She has served as an Islander Launch Crew leader, helping new students transition into college life by guiding them through orientation and offering support with their academic and campus-related inquiries. Additionally, she is an active member of the Islander Ambassador Recruitment Team, where she leads campus tours, serves on student panels, and hosts recruitment and outreach events. These experiences have allowed Jade to develop exceptional public speaking skills and a strong ability to connect with people, which are essential in her goal of advocating for environmental change and policy in the future.

Jade’s commitment to her community is evident in her volunteer work throughout her high school years and into her college career. At Naaman Forest High School, she was involved in a variety of leadership and volunteer roles, from promoting school activities to designing and building themed hallways for events. She also volunteered at the Garland Youth Council, where she served as a liaison between youth and city council members, educating others about local political processes.
