Josh “CRISCO KIDD” Carmona has become a well-known name in the world of radio and entertainment, making a mark as a DJ, radio host, producer, and community advocate. Beginning his career as a deejay at the age of 15, Crisco Kidd quickly gained recognition for his dynamic presence at house parties, weddings, and nightclubs. His passion for music and entertainment led him to radio, where he started his professional journey in 1999 on Houston’s 100.7 House Party. During this time, he expanded his reach by hosting events and deejaying parties, including international gigs in Cancun, Mexico, during the Texas summer breaks.

In 2001, Crisco Kidd moved on to KTHT Hot 97.1, where he grew his influence in Houston’s vibrant nightlife scene. His unique approach to hosting and mixing earned him a devoted following. By 2003, he took his talents to Albuquerque, NM, where he became a key personality on KKSS Kiss 97.3. His success in Albuquerque was instantaneous, as he was able to connect with the local audience, bringing a fresh energy and becoming synonymous with the city’s nightlife. However, in 2004, Crisco faced a personal health crisis when he was diagnosed with testicular cancer, forcing him to take a break from his career. His fight with the illness became a public inspiration, as the support from his community and listeners helped him recover. Returning stronger than ever, Crisco Kidd’s career surged, and he reclaimed his spot at the top of New Mexico’s airwaves, winning awards like Southwest DJ of the Year.

Crisco Kidd’s commitment to his craft and the community led to numerous charitable efforts, including organizing drives like the Ton of Toys campaign, which collected over 2,000 pounds of toys for local children. His desire to make a difference was further solidified by his involvement in the Locs of Love Hair Drive, where he donated his own hair to cancer patients. By 2009, Crisco’s popularity had grown to international proportions, with his radio show, The Crisco Kidd Block Party, becoming a staple on stations in Houston, Albuquerque, and later, Los Angeles. His show gained national attention, and he was able to take his talents overseas to countries like Malaysia, Thailand, and the Netherlands, spreading his brand of entertainment globally.

Crisco Kidd’s move to Los Angeles in 2011 marked a new chapter in his career. Partnering with DJcity, he contributed to the creation of DJcity TV and helped launch the Young California movement, which brought together DJs, influencers, and tastemakers from the West Coast. His innovative approach to blending music and digital platforms earned him a dedicated fanbase and industry recognition. He later returned to Texas in 2015, joining Hot 93.3 in Dallas, where he continued to build his presence in the entertainment industry while also entering the business world. Crisco Kidd became a key figure in the local community, eventually running for public office and earning a real estate license. He even expanded his business ventures, opening his own Famous Churros restaurant.

Throughout his career, Crisco Kidd has continued to evolve as an entertainer, community leader, and entrepreneur. His latest ventures include serving as the in-game host for the Arizona Cardinals and the continued success of his radio show, which can be heard on KZCE 101.1 The Bounce and SiriusXM. Known for his philanthropic work and entrepreneurial spirit, Crisco Kidd has also launched Crisco’s Kids, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering children through community events and initiatives.
