BIOGRAPHY

Mandy Stringer is a highly experienced arts educator and accomplished ceramics artist with a diverse background in teaching, instructional design, and visual arts. She has built a reputation for her ability to inspire students and colleagues alike, creating environments where creativity and self-expression flourish. With over two decades of experience in arts education, Mandy has worked with a variety of learners, fostering a passion for the arts while promoting a culture of reflection, risk-taking, and growth. Her work spans across a range of institutions, including high schools, colleges, and community partnerships, making her a well-rounded leader in the field.

Mandy’s academic credentials include a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Interdisciplinary Arts with a focus on ceramics, as well as a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Electronic Media Arts Design from the University of Denver. Her graduate thesis, “What Binds Us,” was a digital and ceramic exploration of control, and it served as the foundation for her professional artistic identity. This multidisciplinary approach to art-making has influenced her teaching style, where she integrates various artistic media and techniques to offer students a holistic approach to creativity. Mandy’s expertise is in ceramics, sculpture, and graphic design, and she has developed numerous innovative courses and workshops that combine traditional and digital art forms.

Mandy’s career is also marked by her leadership and commitment to educational development. As a Visual Arts teacher and teacher leader at the Performing Institute of Minnesota, she has designed and implemented comprehensive curricula, including courses in ceramics, sculpture, and 3D design. Her work extends beyond teaching as she leads initiatives focused on anti-racism training, professional development, and instructional coaching. She has led the Visual and Performing Arts Professional Learning Community (PLC), where she helped colleagues develop student-centered curricula while addressing systemic issues in education.
