Orazio “Kitarraman” Testa is a multifaceted maestro hailing from Montesarchio, Benevento, Italy, renowned for his extensive expertise in music composition, sound design, game development, video production, and graphic design. His diverse skill set encompasses music composition, production, arrangement, hard disk recording, mixing, mastering, orchestration, virtual orchestration, music transcription, and live performance. In the realm of sound, he excels in design, post-production, audio restoration, and mastering, utilizing tools such as iZotope RX and REAPER 7. His proficiency extends to game development, where he specializes in adaptive music creation, sound design, project management, and asset implementation using FMOD, Unity, and Unreal Engine. Additionally, Orazio is adept in video shooting, sound recording, and video editing with DaVinci Resolve 19, as well as graphic design using the Affinity by Serif Suite. He is fluent in Italian and possesses a C1 proficiency level in English.
Since November 2023, Orazio has been contributing his talents as a guitarist with the Orchestra a Plettro Della Penisola Sorrentina (OPPS). Notable performances include a live concert on June 27, 2024, at Chiesa di S. Francesco in Sorrento, where the orchestra, alongside the “Coro del 44,” performed works by composers such as G.B. Parallel to his engagements with OPPS, Orazio has been a dedicated freelance composer and sound designer since October 2018. He is currently working on Nerosolis’ upcoming project “Votum.” His portfolio includes composing the score for the short film “Life Death and Late Night Tacos,” directed by Justin K. Miller, and creating the soundtrack and sound effects for “The Last Music Stand,” developed for the GameDev.tv 2024 Jam. He also scored “Ocean’s 7 Eleven,” another short film by Miller, and “Bloody Vengeance,” directed by Erik Rangel. In the gaming sphere, Orazio collaborated with Studio Nerosolis on “Hitch,” providing music and sound design, and worked on “Silent Alarm” for the Global Game Jam 2022, where he was responsible for music composition, sound design, and audio implementation. His contributions to “Lost in the Market Jungle” by The Outsiders at GGJ 2021 further highlight his adeptness in game audio design.
In addition to his musical pursuits, Orazio has made significant contributions to education. From October 10, 2022, to June 30, 2023, he served as a special education teacher at Istituto Carlo Fontana in Magenta and Istituto Comprensivo Italo Calvino in Melegnano. Prior to this, he taught music education at Istituto Carlo Fontana from September 25 to October 10, 2022. His commitment to fostering musical talent is further evidenced by his role as a guitarist and arranger with the Sannio Guitar Ensemble between 2021 and 2022, where he participated in concerts at venues such as Giardino Palazzo Mosera in Sant’Agata Dei Goti and Chiesa della Santissima Annunziata in Benevento. On April 21, 2021, Orazio held a webinar at Benevento’s Conservatory on video game culture, sharing his insights and experiences with aspiring musicians and game developers.
Orazio’s educational background is extensive and diverse. In February 2023, he completed the Level 4 – Diamond course at the Game Audio Academy, focusing on audio implementation with Wwise and Unreal Editor 5 under the instruction of Francesco Del Pia. This followed his completion of the Level 3 – Ruby course in January 2023, which concentrated on audio implementation with FMOD and Unity 3D, taught by Michele Postpischl and Gianni Ricciardi. In December 2022, he undertook the Level 2 – Emerald course, delving into the Unity 3D Engine with instructors Dario Khademi and Gianni Ricciardi. October 2022 saw him complete the Level 1 – Sapphire course, covering the history of video game audio and the basics of the Unity Engine, under Gianni Ricciardi’s guidance. Orazio holds a Master’s Degree in Composition for Film Scoring from the Conservatory of Music N. Sala in Benevento, graduating magna cum laude in October 2021 with a thesis on the evolution of video game music. He also earned a Master’s Degree in Classical Guitar from the same institution in October 2016, achieving a score of 9/10. His educational journey includes a Masterclass in chamber music for winds orchestra in June 2020, a Masterclass on film scoring in August 2019, and a course in Basic Home Recording between 2017 and 2018.
