Paul David Hood

Prior to his tenure at SecAlliance, Hood served as a Senior Threat Intelligence Analyst with Nettitude’s Advisory Services Team from March 2018 to August 2021. During this period, he spearheaded the development of innovative CTI service products and enhanced reconnaissance analysis packages. He adeptly integrated red team techniques into CTI workflows and evaluated commercial CTI sources for integration. Hood’s responsibilities also encompassed scoping and delivering xBEST/TIBER Threat Intelligence, automating CTI data analytics and enrichment, and serving as a subject matter expert for senior stakeholders. His contributions to industry publications and CTI research further solidified his reputation as a thought leader in the field.

Hood’s earlier career includes significant roles at the University of Oxford’s OxCERT. From July 2016 to June 2017, he acted as the Head of Security Operations, serving as the primary critical incident handler and managing the university’s CERT. He oversaw security operations, liaised with law enforcement and senior stakeholders, and provided threat actor profiling and briefings to C-level executives. Between February 2014 and July 2016, as the Security Operations Lead, Hood provided frontline SOC and incident response technical leadership, conducted network vulnerability assessments and digital forensics, and engineered bespoke SIEM and NSM solutions using the Elastic Stack. His innovative work in SIEM development earned him the CIO Recognition Award.
