Who we are

Professional Profile is the data controller for personal information collected through this website. You can reach us at your@professional-profile.com.

What we collect

We collect what you choose to give us:

• Your name and email address, when you use a form on this site or email us.
• The career information you send us so that we can write your profile.
• When you buy a profile, the details needed to take payment and manage renewals: your name, email address and a payment reference. Your card details go directly to our payment processor and are never stored on our systems.
• Basic technical information your browser sends with every request, such as your IP address and device type, which our web server records in its logs.

What we do with it

We use it to answer you, to write, publish and maintain your profile, to take payment and manage renewals, and to support you afterwards.

The content of your profile is published openly on this website on purpose. Being findable is the point of the service, so your page is intended to be read by people, search engines and AI assistants. You decide what goes on it.

Payments

Payments and annual renewals are processed by Stripe. Your card details are collected and processed by Stripe and never reach us. We keep only what we need to manage your purchase: your name, email address, payment status and a Stripe reference.

Stripe is based in the United States, so paying involves transferring the necessary billing information outside the UK. Stripe handles that data under its own privacy policy and safeguards.

Why we are allowed to process it

We handle your enquiry because you asked us to. We write and publish your profile under our agreement with you and with your consent, and you can withdraw that consent and ask us to unpublish at any time. We keep payment records because the law requires it.

Who else sees it

We do not sell your personal information. We use a small number of service providers to run the site, take payment and, where you have agreed to it, measure visits: Stripe for payments and Google Analytics for the visit counting described below. They only get what they need to do that. Published profile content is public by design and may be indexed by search engines and quoted by AI assistants.

How long we keep it

We keep messages for as long as we need them to deal with what you asked and for our own records. We keep profile information for as long as your profile is published, or as otherwise agreed with you. Payment records are kept for as long as accounting and tax rules require.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict what we do with it, or object to some of it. Email your@professional-profile.com and we will deal with it. You can also complain to your data protection regulator; in the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office.

Cookies and analytics

Nothing is stored in your browser until you agree to it. There is no advertising and no tracking pixels on this site, and the fonts are served from here rather than fetched from a third party.

On a first visit we ask whether we may count your visit using Google Analytics. If you say yes, Google sets two cookies, _ga and _ga_E4F6ZXBLKK, which let it tell a returning reader from a new one; they last up to two years. Google receives your IP address and basic details about your browser and device as part of that, and may process it outside the UK under its own terms. What we see is the reports: which pages are read, how people arrived, roughly where in the world they are. We do not use it for advertising and we do not combine it with anything else we hold about you.

If you say no, the tag is never loaded and nothing is sent. Your answer is kept in your browser's own storage rather than in a cookie, so declining leaves nothing behind. You can change your mind whenever you like using the button below, and switching to no also deletes those two cookies.

The Stripe checkout you are sent to when you buy a profile sets its own cookies to prevent fraud, and Stripe explains those in its privacy policy.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your information. No transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work to keep what you share with us safe.

Changes

We update this notice when the service changes. The version on this page is the one that applies, and the date above tells you when it last changed.
